Moonfire Publishing is pleased to announce that Loren Niemi’s first published story collection “What Haunts Us” has been selected as a finalist for the 2020 Midwest Book Awards sponsored by the Midwest Independent Publishers Association (MiPA) in the Fiction—Fantasy/SciFi/Horror/Paranormal category.
We offer our congratulations to Loren on his selection and invite you to check out his truly remarkable paranormal story collection. This is an evocative collection of tales he has performed on many stages, along with new explorations of mysteries which arise at the intersection of the ordinary, flicker in the imagination, and dwell in memory.
The author described the book this way; “WHAT HAUNTS US are those things we hold in memory or in feelings: people, geography, actions, philosophies and beliefs, and emotions themselves. I have lived with some of these stories for decades. Giving them the form that they deserved eventually became inevitable.”
MiPA’s Midwest Book Award program recognizes quality in independent publishing in the Midwest. The 30th annual Midwest Book Awards was open to books published and copyrighted in 2019 in MiPA’s 12-state Midwestern region: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
This year’s competition garnered 221 entries in 31 categories, which were judged by a panel of 99 librarians and booksellers from every state in MiPA’s 12-state Midwestern region.
