Loren Niemi Performs at Eat My Words First Virtual Event

Eat My Words bookstore will be hosting their very first virtual event on Thursday, October 29. Join them at 7 pm CDT for their livestream on Facebook when Loren Niemi will present stories from his 2019 Moonfire release What Haunts Us.

The event will be livestreamed on Facebook on the 29th from 7 pm to 8 pm CDT.

“What Haunts Us” is a collection of fifteen short stories that speak from the page in the voice of the storyteller – at turns comical, unsettling, heartbreaking and wondrous – evoking the full range of human behavior and emotion. From tales set in the northern Minnesota Boundary Waters, to the millennia-spanning landscapes of Europe and the United States, these are stories brimming with a dynamic sense of place and person, imbued with a sense of grounded reality. Loren Niemi’s work has been called post-modern, “with the dark beauty of language that is not ashamed of poetry.”

What Haunts Us can be purchased locally or online at Eat My Words bookseller is located at 213 – 13th Avenue NE in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Books are also on on sale at Loren Niemi’s website.

MiPA Virtual Reading Series Fall 2020

Mark your calendars for September 24 and the last Thursday of every month throughout the fall for some of the best storytelling the Midwest has to offer!

The Midwest Book Awards is hosting a limited series this fall to highlight winners of the 30th Annual Midwest Book Awards (for books published in 2019). The Virtual Reading Series will be premiered on the Midwest Book Awards’ Facebook Page and on MiPA’s YouTube Channel. 

The kickoff of the 2020 Midwest Independent Publishers Association (MiPA) Virtual Reading Series is Thursday, September 24 at 7 pm CDT.

The MiPA series features literary readings by winners of the Midwest Book Awards. Thursday’s episode features the following winners in the Fiction category:

“WIRELESS” read by author Alex Acks
“WHAT HAUNTS US” performed by Loren Niemi
“BENEATH THE FLAMES” read by author Gregory Renz
“FIGURE 8” by author Jeff Nania
