SubText Books – CityPages Award-Winner and Source for ‘What Haunts Us’

Congratulations to SubText Books – Best Bookstore (NEW) in the Twin Cities! CityPages announced their annual Best of the Twin Cities on July 29.

Located at 6 West Fifth Street, St. Paul, MN 55102, SubText Books is the kind of bookstore that awakens the inner book-lover in everyone. We developed a serious crush on the place the first time we visited, finding graphic novels, hardcover new releases, and all the best local writer’s books packed on delicious racks and tables. “Nestled deep in downtown St. Paul is a gem of a bookstore. Locally owned and operated, Subtext Books is filled to the brim with all kinds of reading material, including buzzy new novels, hefty art tomes, and work by local authors.”

Through the end of August, Moonfire Publishing is running a special promotion of “What Haunts Us,” by storyteller Loren Niemi. As we announced back in June, Moonfire will be donating all publisher’s profits from the sales of Loren’s 2019 collection of stories to benefit the Black Storytellers Alliance. We’ve now extended the end date – we will donate proceeds from all sales of “What Haunts Us” through August 31, 2020.

SubText is open for browsing now, from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm. Score your copies of Loren Niemi’s Midwest Book Award Winner “What Haunts Us” from one of the knowledgeable and super friendly staff – call the shop at 651-493-2791 or special order “What Haunts Us” online on the SubText website.

Moonfire Publishing’s promotion directly benefits The Black Storytellers Alliance (BSA). Since 1976, the Alliance’s master storytellers, educators, and community supporters have been dedicated to maintaining the oral storytelling tradition as practiced by African people in the Diaspora.
